About
Thea was the Greek goddess of light, mother of the moon and sun. She gave the world the power to see what shines.
Welcome in. This is where THEA is made, by me, Darja, a goldsmith who grew up on the Baltic Sea coast and found my way to a bench in Hove, UK. THEA is where I’m making my own story of wonder and belonging and this is how it begins.
Every design starts as an encounter: a shape found in nature, a place, a symbolic object. I draw it, rework it, and simplify it down to its essential gesture. I keep going until the piece feels like it was forgotten for centuries, weathered by time, and rediscovered in a modern light.
In the workshop, the making follows the same path. Each piece is made by hand, in small runs, from the first drawing to the last stone set. Digital tools like laser-cutting come in wherever they serve the idea. After years at the bench, I like the place where old craft and new technique meet and settle into conversation about what lasts.
That’s why I make THEA the way I do. Nothing here is rushed or made to be disposable. Each piece has one maker and a reason for its shape, and it’s meant to be worn for a long time, until it feels like it was always yours.
One by one, the work has gathered into a collection I call the Cabinet of Modern Antiques. It’s a cabinet of curiosities, full of small treasures made to be worn and to belong. Come in, take a look around, and stay as long as you like.
