Jewellery Care
Gold
Gold is naturally resistant to tarnish. To keep it at its best, remove rings before swimming, exercising, or applying lotion and perfume — chemicals and chlorine can dull the surface over time. Store separately from other jewellery to avoid scratching. Clean with a soft cloth, or warm water and a mild soap, then dry thoroughly.
Silver | polished
Polished silver will tarnish naturally with air and moisture; this is part of the metal, not a fault. Slow it down by storing pieces in an airtight bag or box when not worn, and keeping them away from humidity and direct sunlight. Buff gently with a silver polishing cloth to restore shine. For heavier tarnish, a silver dip solution can help, but use it sparingly and only on plain polished silver (avoid it on pieces with semi-precious stones). Keep away from chlorine, household chemicals, and prolonged contact with water.
Silver | matte
The matte finish is achieved by hand and is more delicate than a polish. Avoid rubbing with a polishing cloth, as this will bring up shine unevenly. Clean only with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or fingerprints. As with polished silver, keep away from moisture, chemicals, and direct sunlight, and store separately when not in use.
General
- Put jewellery on last, after perfume, lotion, and hairspray
- Remove before sleeping, bathing, or exercising
- Store pieces separately, ideally in a soft pouch or lined box
- Bring or send in for a professional clean or check if a stone feels loose, or a finish needs restoring.
Small marks, softened edges. A well-worn piece has simply been well loved. Enjoy yours.
